Ep 01: Vegky, Vegan Jerky and the Opportunity of Owning a Business
Thomas Hong spent his 20s doing civil engineering and hated working for someone and wanted more money and vacation time. For the next 10 years, he ran a business running an e-commerce store selling european bathware and got burnt out. Thomas felt passionate about helping people ease their way into veganism so he started Vegky.
Thomas is the owner and creator of Vegky. After years of frustration trying to become more plant-based, Thomas knew there was one thing missing from all the other recipes: a veggie jerky that tasted AND had the same feel as traditional beef. That’s why he founded Vegky! Vegky is one of the only vegan jerkies that tastes and feels like the real meat we all knew and loved before transitioning to vegetable-based diets. What makes Vegky different, you ask? Well, their jerky is made with stems of shiitake mushrooms and not the cap, which makes all the difference.
